Addie Boykin Gaither

Brevard - Addie Boykin Gaither, 85, died, Wednesday August 19, 2009 at her residence.
Born in Middlesex, NC, she was a daughter of the late Joe E. Boykin and Hettero Mumford and was the wife of the late James C. Gaither, Sr. for 38 years before his death in 1996.

Mrs. Gaither was a US Army nurse during World War II. After her Army service she worked as a civilian nurse in the Raleigh area until 1958 when she married and moved to Brevard. She and her husband owned and operated Gaither's Restaurant and Gaither's Real Estate for many years in downtown Brevard.

Surviving is her daughter, Dare Gaither of Brevard, two step sons; James C. Gaither, Jr. of Ohio and Danny Gaither of AZ., a niece; Martha Tippett of NC., several special friends; Carolyn Gaither of Greenville, SC, David Albertson of Brevard, NC, and Joan and Eddie McMahan of Brevard.

The graveside service will be held at 4 PM Saturday, August 22, 2009 at Pisgah Memorial Garden with Rev. Don Waters officiating. Military gravesides rites will be conducted by Transylvania County Honor Guard.

The family will receive friends from 2:30 until 3:30 pm Saturday prior to the service at Moore Funeral Home.
