Albert Uren

Albert Uren, 96, of Brevard, passed away on Monday, February 10, 2014. He was born April 23, 1917 to the late John Percival and Florence Mary Williams Uren in Connor Downs, England. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Miriam Uren.

A Veteran of the US Army, Mr. Uren was a graduate of Pershing High School in Detroit, Michigan where he also began his career as a newspaper editor with the Detroit News. He was also a past member of the Brevard Arts Council and the Connestee Volunteer Fire Department.

He is survived by daughters, Julie Simpson and husband Malcolm of Marbury, Maryland and Amy Hardin and husband Don of Charlotte, NC and son Matt Uren and wife Diane of Denver, CO; sister Hilda Stubbings of Bloomington, IN; and companion Kathleen Chandler of Schenectady, NY; and grandchildren Chris Hardin, Kate Hardin, Blake Uren and Grant Uren.

A private family service will be held at a later date.
