Alexander Richard “Zip” Czipulis, (aka Papa Zip) son of the late Alexander John Czipulis and Irene Avianontos Czipulis, was born on April 25, 1945 in Jackson Heights, NY. He departed this world peacefully on October 24, 2021 at his home in North Carolina. He was preceded in death by his mother, father and step- great-grandson Jacob Matthew Thomas.
He attended grade school in New York before relocating to South Florida when he was 12. He attended Miami Norland Middle and Senior High Schools, graduating in 1963. He was an accomplished athlete and student. He played football, ran track, and played baseball. He was also a part of the Letterman’s Club. He attended both Eastern Kentucky University, where he played football under Coach Roy Kidd, and Miami Dade College. He was a licensed General Contractor, as well as a licensed Realtor in Florida and North Carolina.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, sports, the ocean, the mountains and traveling. When his sons were young, he coached baseball and football for them. His door was always open to anyone who ever needed help; no one was ever a stranger, everyone was always a friend.
Alexander, “Zip”, attended St. Joseph’s Catholic Church where he served as an altar boy and St. Mel’s and Visitation Catholic Church in Miami. He attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Brevard, North Carolina.
He is survived by his wife Christine Serenci Czipulis; children Debra (Randy); grandchildren Joe (Jordan), Lauren & Jena, Alexander John II (Sara); grandchildren Jessica, Jake and Josh, James Eric, grandchildren Eric & Levi, Christopher Richard (Christine); grandchildren, Afton & Cayden, brother, Robert James, step-children Jack (Renee) step-grandchild, Piper, Kerry (Bob); step-grandchildren, Christian, Logan, Step-great-grandchild Novi, Andrea (Matt), step-grandchildren, Nathan & Sydney.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday October 29, 2021 at Moore-Blanchard Funerals & Cremations with Father Shawn O'Neal officiating.
Arrangements for a memorial mass to be held in the Fort Lauderdale area in the comings weeks will be announced later.
