Alfred Gregg

Brevard, North Carolina

Alfred C. "Al" or "A.C." Gregg, Jr. 88, of Brevard, passed away on August 16, 2018. He was born in Belmont, North Carolina, to the late Alfred C. and Elizabeth Mae Butler Gregg. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his first wife of 52 years, Dolores Gayleen Sells Gregg in January 2007 and his sister Frances Stewart.

Al grew up in Greensboro, NC, attended Lindley Elementary School and Lindley Junior High School before attending New Hanover High School in Wilmington, NC, Class of '49, and then received a football scholarship to Davidson College, class of '53. He was in the ROTC, and proud member of SAE Fraternity while in college. During his high school and college years, he enjoyed working as a lifeguard at Wrightsville Beach, NC.

He was recruited by the General Electric Co. where he retired after 25 years of service. In 1979 A.C. purchased a long existing Appliance business in Greensboro, "Hart Appliance and TV". After spending 20 years as owner, his daughter and son-in-law, Tommy and Kimberly McDaniel took over the business. He was an enthusiastic college sports spectator and in particular was an avid fan of the North Carolina Tarheels. He loved to play golf and tennis. He was also one of the original PSL's of the Carolina Panthers.

He leaves his loving wife, Eve Guthrie Gregg. He also leaves his four children: Kimberly Mc Daniel (Tommy), Pamella Sealander, AC Gregg, III (Rick), Dana Boehling (Greg), two stepchildren: Scott Adam and Kim Whipple. He was a proud grandad to nine grandchildren: Meghan McDaniel, Stephen McDaniel, Bryce Sealander (Anna), Kalie Sealander Moore (Evan), Ashley Sealander Barnhill (Sam), Hayden Sealander, Riley Sealander, Elizabeth Boehling, Ross Boehling, and four great grandchildren: Jayden Moore, Brielle McDaniel, Zeke Moore and baby Moore (coming in September). The Deceased also leaves his dear sisters: Virginia Sykes of Charlotte, NC, Mary Ann Browning of Hillsborough, NC. He also leaves his special nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews.

On Saturday, September 8th, a Celebration of Life Service for Al Gregg Jr. will be held in Greensboro NC at Our Father Lutheran Church, 3304 Groomtown Road at 3:00 pm with Rev. Jesse Canniff-Kuhn officiating. Visitation will be prior to the memorial service at 2:00 pm. A reception will follow at the church.
