Andrew Martin, Iii

Andrew P. Martin III, 97, of Brevard, NC, passed away on February 17, 2022.  Andrew, known as Andy to friends and family, was the son of the late Andrew P. Martin, Jr. and Edith Marshall Martin Selph.  He was the loving husband of MaryAnn Martin for 62 years until she passed away in 2018.

Andy was born on August 19, 1924 in Nashville, Tennessee.  Andy served in the Army during World War II.  Afterwards, he graduated from Vanderbilt University with a degree in Chemical Engineering.   Andy enjoyed a long career with DuPont.  After retiring from DuPont, Andy enjoyed working part time for H&R Block during tax season.  He also served on the board of the DuPont Credit Union.

Andy began working for DuPont in Wilmington, Delaware.  Andy and MaryAnn moved to Brevard in 1957 for Andy’s job at the Brevard DuPont plant.   They loved living in Brevard and raising their family in such a beautiful town.  Andy was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.

Andy and MaryAnn, along with 4 other families, started the Brevard church of Christ in 1965.  Andy was a faithful Christian and served as the treasurer and as a deacon for decades.

Andy is survived by his son Drew Martin and wife Rochelle of Spring, TX; daughter, Nancy Martin Watts and husband Dave of Brevard;   grandson Josh Martin and wife Lindsey of Spring, TX; granddaughter Cayce Smith and husband Ben of Durham, NC; granddaughter Haley Dawson and husband Alex of Brevard; and great grandsons Brooks and Grayson Martin of Spring, TX and great grandson Cooper Smith of Durham, NC. He was proceeded in death by his parents, his wife MaryAnn, and his only brother David Martin.
