Annette Wester Thompson, 65, of Brevard, passed from this life Wednesday morning, June 29, 2016 after a long heroic fight with leukemia. She is survived by her husband Jeff, many siblings in Brevard, NC, Asheville, NC, Florida and New York State as well as nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and a large extended family.
Her long official career was in geriatric nursing in many facilities and there is a long list of accounts of her special relationships with residents, their families and her coworkers. She gathered loving friends to her wherever she went for her whole life.
Some of Annette's many interests and skills including cooking, outdoor activities and lore, reading and collecting special mementos of adventures in interesting places. She continued to gather new ideas and learn new skills every day.
The nurture of people and critters that had special needs and hurts is where she especially shone. She was able to bring joy and healing to many all these years. Our pet family has been entirely made from those rescued, and they brought joy to our lives.
Annette was a very special woman, the best companion, partner and friend possible. She had much to do with bringing up nine brothers and sisters and was the best role model and family member there is.
We all celebrate her life well-lived, with love and gratitude for being in our lives.
