Annie Lackey Byrd
Brevard - Annie Lackey Byrd, 98, died on Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at The Oaks of Brevard surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Old Fort, NC to the late Zebulon Vance and Mamie Morris Lackey. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Oliver Briscoe Byrd and her daughter, Nancy Byrd Milner.

She was a wonderful Christian lady who took great pleasure in caring for others. She was a loving mother, devoted grandmother, and a very special aunt and friend. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Surviving are her sons, Jim Byrd, C. Wayne Byrd, Ken Byrd and Wife Joanna of Brevard, and Porky Byrd and wife Charlotte of Lawrenceville, GA. Mrs. Byrd had 13 grandchildren, many great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, July 2, 2011 at 2:30pm in the Chapel of Moore Funeral Home with the Revs. Danny Byers, Allen Thompson, and Lee Ray Greene officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:30pm before the service. Burial will follow in Pisgah Gardens.
