Annie Jones Wickliffe, 97, of Cedar Mountain, died Wednesday, October 23, 2013, at Aston Park Nursing Home in Asheville, NC.

Annie was born April 15, 1916, and was the daughter of the late Solomon Jones and Janie McCrary Jones. She was preceded in death by her husband J. R. (Jake) Wickliffe, brothers Paul, Claude, Ed, Speedy, and Joe Earle Jones, sisters Vera Jones Stinson (was 102 at the time of her death), and Dixie Jones Lane (who died at the age of 99.9). Annie is survived by one daughter JoAnne Cathey and husband Ervin of Candler, NC, and one son Bob Wickliffe and wife Pam of Murrayville, GA; one grandson Paul Cathey and wife Kendra of Candler, NC, and one granddaughter Jill Letchas and husband Matt of Gainesville, GA; four great grandchildren, Bailey and Emma Letchas of Gainesville, GA, and Kennedy and Silas Cathey of Candler, NC.

Annie had a tremendous memory and loved to reflect on the many changes she experienced in her life. The history and people of Cedar Mountain were stored in her mind to be accurately recalled for anyone desiring that information. She loved to cook and will be remember for her delicious homemade rolls and angel biscuits.

Annie was very active throughout her life in Rocky Hill Baptist Church and worked tirelessly in the community. If ever there was a true child of God, it was Annie.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, October 26, 2013, at Rocky Hill Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Dan Ray officiating. Immediately following the service, family will greet friends and relatives at the Family Life Center.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Rocky Hill Baptist Church, P. O. Box 509, Cedar Mountain, N.C. 28718.
