Anthony Dale Mathis

Anthony Dale “Tony” Mathis, 58, of Brevard, passed away on March 15, 2024. A native of Transylvania County, he was the son of the late Floyd and Gaynell Shook Mathis. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Donna Breedlove-Mathis, and by his siblings: Holly, Sandy, Rita, Joe, Rhonda and Jack.

Tony was a collector of guns, knives and guitars. He loved doing things with his two sons, Christian and Chandler, from camping and teaching them about the outdoors, to watching his grandson play football. 

A member of Open Arms Tabernacle in Brevard, he enjoyed playing his guitars in church as well as going on mission trips to spread the Gospel. He truly enjoyed helping others by showing the love of Christ he had received himself.

His loving survivors include his sons, Christian Mathis and Chandler Mathis; his brother, Randy Mathis, his sister, Linda Monroe; and his grandson, Zandyn Mathis. 

Funeral Services for Tony Mathis will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, March 22, 2024, at Brevard Church of God. Interment will follow at Rock Bridge Cemetery in Jackson County. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM, one hour prior to the service.
