Arlene Kleissler

Brevard - Arlene Kleissler, 72, of Brevard died at her home on Nov. 30, 2011.

Arlene was the daughter of the late Godfrey Nelson and Mildred Lowery Nelson. Prior to her marriage, she was a Sister in the community of The Sisters of Charity of St. Elizabeth, Convent Station, NJ. She later earned a Masters in Education and loved teaching the handicapped.

She is survived by one son; Terrence Kleissler of Astoria, NY, one daughter; Ellen Kleissler Meyer and husband Michael of Charlotte, NC, one grandson; Charley Meyer of Charlotte, NC and a special friend Mary Marinucci of Brevard, NC.

Her life was spent in making everything better for her family and friends. Her talents and creativity, through knitting and quilting, were used in part to comfort people in need. She added beauty and flavor to the world through her gardening and baking. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 3pm at St. Phillips Episcopal Church, Friday, December 2, 2011 with Rev. Robert Field officiating. Family will receive friends immediately following the service.
