Arnold G. "Wally" Wellinghoff, 82, of Brevard, passed away February 4, 2014. He was born in Hamilton, Ohio on February 8, 1931 to the late Paul Wellinghoff and the late Norma Stegeman Wellinghoff. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a son, Gregory Wellinghoff; brothers Arthur Wellinghoff and John Wellinghoff, and a sister Nazaire Plapp.
He was a member of Brevard Wesleyan Church and Christ Fellowship of Miami, Florida. He had served as a deacon at First Baptist Church of South Miami. He also belonged to the South Miami Kiwanis Club.
A veteran of the U.S. Navy, Mr. Wellinghoff served aboard a destroyer in South Pacific.
He lived in Miami from 1949 until 2006, attending high school and the University of Miami. He had his insurance, real estate and securities licenses and served many clients over the years.
Mr. Wellinghoff is survived by his wife of 57 years, Darlene A. Wellinghoff, daughter Kim Parrish and husband Brett of Brevard, son Dean and wife Michelle of Miami, son Darryl and wife Colleen of Williamsburg, Virginia; brothers Paul and Wellinghoff of Miami and Louis Wellinghoff of Ocala, and sister Jeanette Myer of Hamilton, Ohio; grandchildren Ashley Delp, Morgan and Chelsea Wellinghoff of Gainesville, Georgia, Amber Parrish of Asheville, Colter and Hunter Parrish of Brevard, Courtney Parrish McCall and husband Zachary McCall of Brevard, Brittany and Briley Wellinghoff of Miami and Zachary, Connor and Katie Wellinghoff of Williamsburg, Virgina; great-grandchildren Caden, Landon and Ava Bella Delp of Gainesville, Georgia and Rivers Grant McCall of Brevard.
A Memorial Service for Mr. Wellinghoff will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Moore Funeral Home in Brevard. The family will receive friends at 12:00 noon, one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Miami at a later date. A reception will be held at 2:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church of Brevard.
