Barbara Wright

Barbara Johnson Wright, 85, of Brevard, passed away on Wednesday, May 1, 2019. A native of Chicago, Illinois, she was the daughter of the late Bruce and Erna Pearson Johnson. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, James Wright.

She was a graduate of Amundansen High School in Chicago and Beloit College in Wisconsin. After graduation, she began her career at Sears Headquarters in Chicago before moving into an executive position with Sears' Midwest Territory office in Chicago. In 1969 she married James Wright and in 1982 they began their own accounting, tax and investment business in St. Charles, Illinois before retiring and moving to Brevard in 1999 where she was active in the Unitarian Church, Democratic Women's Organization, AAUW and many other civic and social activities. She enjoyed music and the cultural community while taking advantage of the outdoor activities.

Her survivors include her step-children Karen Zaret of Park Forest, Illinois, Steve Wright of Mesa, Arizona, Sarah Wright of Salt Lake City, Utah, Patty Steinhauser of Berrien Springs, Michigan, and Larry Wright of Noblesville, Indiana; 7 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
