Bascom Henry Plummer, 79, of Brevard, passed away on Friday, August 4, 2017.
He was the son of Robert Henry Plummer and Lois Greene Plummer of Brevard. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Skillen and Lois Deiss.
From 1961-1999, he was a managing engineer at Boeing Co. where he was mainly involved in flight tests of airborne early warning and control aircraft (AWACS). He worked for many years in Seattle, Washington, and Munich, Germany, before retiring back to Brevard with his beloved wife, Nancy.
He was kind, humorous, and affectionate. He readily helped others in need, enjoyed building ingenious devices to make household tasks easier, and loved golfing with his buddies. The day before he passed away he shot a 78 - less than his age - on his last round of golf. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, and a good friend to many. He will be dearly missed.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Matthews Plummer; his son Robert Plummer and wife Nancy; his son William Plummer and wife Megan; his daughter Mary Plummer and husband Mustafa Kudrati; his stepson Scott Garrett and wife Emily; his stepson Matt Garrett and wife Tammy; his sister Robert (Bobbie) Hinson; 17 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, Aug. 7, 2017, at the Brevard-Davidson River Presbyterian Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Brevard-Davidson River Presbyterian Church.
