Brevard - Bessie V. Loftis
Bessie V. Loftis, 88, of Brevard, died Thursday, October 6, at her home.

She was born in Caroleen, NC, the daughter of the late Emuel Edward and Myrtle Goudelock Vassey and moved to Brevard in 1940. She was married to the late John Edgar Loftis, Jr. in 1942 and was a member of First United Methodist Church of Brevard.

She was also preceded in death by her brothers Ed, John and Bill Vassey, and by her sister Jean Patton.

She is survived by her children, John Loftis and wife Jane of Greeley, CO, David Loftis and wife Marsha of Mills River, William Loftis and wife Martha of Burlingame, CA, Kathryn Flynn and husband Rick of Chapel Hill, and Margaret Dellinger and husband Jon of Brevard; 11 grandchildren, David Loftis, Elliot Loftis, and Sara Bean, all of Greeley, CO; Richard Loftis of Charlotte, Kristin Jones of Fletcher, Aidan and Kieran Loftis of Burlingame, CA, Jonathan Flynn of Houston, TX; and Adam Dellinger of Etowah and Amanda Mohammed of Horse Shoe; and 10 great- grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at the First United Methodist Church of Brevard on Monday, October 10 at 11:00 am with the Revs. Kerry Purselle and Tommy Madden officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
