Bessie Elizabeth Cantrell

Heaven’s angels are now welcoming Bessie Elizabeth “Betty” Cantrell, 88, of Brevard, into their midst. Born in Transylvania County to Lloyd and Olga Cantrell, Betty was their beloved only child. She was diagnosed at the age of two with cerebral palsy, along with other issues, which required dedicated, constant care, her entire life.

After her parents were no longer able to manage her needed care, Betty was relocated to the Brian Center, now Accordius Healthcare in 1986, where she was known and loved by staff and residents alike. Though Betty could not verbally communicate, she certainly could make her happiness, and her frustrations, well understood!

She will be remembered as one who enjoyed being around others, and will live in the hearts of all who knew her.

Betty is survived by a number of cousins, including her guardian, Tom Morgan, of Brevard.

Graveside Services for Betty will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, February 21, 2022 at Gillespie-Evergreen Cemetery in Brevard.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Betty may be made to a charity of your choice.
