Betty Stamey Smith Foster



Brevard - Betty Stamey Smith Foster, 78, passed away at the Brian Center on Sunday, December 14, 2008.

Betty was born February 3, 1930 in Transylvania County, NC to the late James Noble Stamey and the late Clara Campbell Stamey. Betty graduated from Brevard High School in 1948.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband, Harold Smith, her second husband, Robert Calloway Foster, one daughter, Katheryn Lorraine Jarrett and one brother, Harold Lee Stamey.

She is survived by her son, Dane Smith of Etowah and one stepson Robert Clay Foster of Brevard, one stepdaughter Janet Foster Nicholson of Brevard, one sister Billie Stamey Bolt and husband J.D. of Brevard, one brother, James Jerry Stamey and wife Martha of Brevard, her grandchildren; Christopher Lynn Collins, Shawn Timothy Galloway, James William Smith, Daniel Gregory Smith, Jeremy Elisha Gibson, Adam William Gibson, and Aaron Matthew Gibson, and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Betty's life will be held on Sunday, December 21st at 3:00 pm in the Chapel of Moore Funeral Home with the Rev. Marcus Dodson officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
