Bobby Scruggs

Bobby Eugene Scruggs, 76 of the Silversteen Community, passed away on Tuesday, October 30, 2018. A native of Elba, Alabama, he was the son of the late Ila Mae & William Dempsey Scruggs. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brothers Louie, Frank, Marion, Leon, Tony.

Bobby "Gene" was a great man, husband, father, and pawpaw. He worked at Ecusta for over thirty years to take care of his family that he loved more than anything. No matter what was going on in his life, he could always put a smile on your face and make you laugh, even on his toughest days. He was well known in his community for his personality and famous Merle Haggard singing voice. He always enjoyed growing a garden each year and especially growing the hottest peppers he could. He was a talented man who could fix just about anything and could make some of the most unique hand-carved walking sticks. But most of all, he told anyone that would listen, that Brenda was the love of his life. We all love you 2 bushels and 1 peck. Heaven has gained a very special soul. 'Til we meet again.....

His loving survivors include his wife, Brenda Kay Galloway Scruggs; son is Marty Scruggs and wife Melissa, daughter is Renae Scruggs, son is Jeremy Scruggs and wife Shannon, son is Tirrell Scruggs and wife Kimberly; 17 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

Funeral services for Bobby "Gene" Scruggs will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, November 3, 2018 in the chapel of Moore-Blanchard Funerals & Cremations in Brevard with Rev. Ray Von Galloway officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00-1:00 pm, one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Mack McCall Cemetery in Lake Toxaway.
