Bruno DePalma, M.D. died at the Bailey Hospice Center, Saint Augustine on May 7, 2022. He was born on August 24, 1941, the son of the late, Rosa Cimidora DePalma and Joseph DePalma in Boston, Massachusetts. He grew up in Canton, Massachusetts and graduated from Canton High School. He graduated from the University of Massachusetts with a Bachelor of Arts Degree. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Medicine from the University of South Dakota and a Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Vermont. Following college, he interned at Good Samaritan Hospital in Portland, Oregon, and was a resident in Radiology at the University of Indiana School of Medicine, where he was Chief Resident in his last year. He practiced radiology at Dearborn County Hospital in Lawrenceburg, Indiana. He served in the United States Air force, completing a course in Aerospace Medicine, and served as a Flight Surgeon at Beale Air Force Base in California. He was board certified in Diagnostic Radiology and was a member of the American Medical Association, The American College of Radiology, the Indiana Roentgen Society, and the Radiological Society of North America. While at Dearborn County Hospital, he served as chief of staff.
Bruno is survived by his wife of fifty-five years, Mary Carolyn Moran De Palma, daughter, Sarah Anne DePalma, Cosgrove (Jeffrey), granddaughters, Hanna Madison and Heather Elise, and numerous nieces and nephews. His sisters-in –law survive him.
Following his retirement Bruno moved to Saint Augustine where he was a communicant at Trinity Episcopal Church and served for many years as an usher. He was also a member of the Brotherhood of Saint Andrews, Vestry and served on the garden committee.
Serving on the Garden committee was natural for him as of first importance to Bruno was conservation. He believed in planting trees wherever he could do so. He was a life member of the Nature Conservancy, Save the Redwoods, the Sierra Club, and the American Forestry Association and held memberships in other conservation organizations.
Graveside services for Bruno will be held 2:00 PM, Friday, June 24, 2022, at St. Paul's in the Valley Cemetery with Reverend Elizabeth Roles officiating.
