Carlos Cassell

Carlos Franklin Cassell, Sr., 82, of Cross Hill, SC, died Tuesday, June 2, 2009 at the Charlie Norwood Veteran's Hospital, Augusta, GA.
A native of Brevard, he was the son of the late John Coatesworth Cassell and Lela Hayes Cassell. Carlos served in the US Navy during WW II. His work career included Cotton Broker, management of Holiday Inns, and whole sale jewelry. He loved his woodworking and craft painting.
For the past year, Carlos lived in Cross Hill, SC near his nephew Ben and wife Ann. He attended Coronaca Baptist Church of Greenwood, SC.
Surviving are his children, Carlos Franklin Cassell, Jr. and wife Ann of Sterling Heights, MI, Richard Cassell and wife Helen of Taylor, MI, Carole Ann Swayze of Dickson, TN, and Cathy Crawford and husband Michael A. of Rockford, MI; grandchildren, Jenny Wolney of Woodhaven, MI, Richard Cassell of Fort Carson, CO, Heather Saunders of Rockford, MI, Matthew Crawford of Fort Gordon, GA, Patrick Crawford of Rockford, MI, , Benjamin Crawford of Rockford, MI, Christopher Swayze of Lansing, MI, Gregg Swayze of Lansing, MI, and Rebecca Rekoumis of Sterling Heights, MI; great-grandchildren, Natalie Wolney, Ian Wolney, Lilly Saunders, and Christina Crawford; sisters, Lula Wilson and Annette Raxter both of Brevard; brother, Jim Cassell of Brevard.
Military graveside rites will be held at 10 am Friday, June 5, 2009 at Mt. Moriah-Calvert Cemetery.
