Catherine Atwell

Catherine Sue "Cathy" Atwell, 73 of Asheville, NC passed away, Friday, August 4, 2017 at Mission Hospital.

She was born in Brevard, North Carolina and was preceded in death by her parents William Barr "Bill" Atwell and Carrie Killian Atwell, two brothers Cecil Herbert and Francis Lee Atwell and a sister Caroline "Teddi" Atwell.

Catherine attended school in Brevard, North Carolina and graduated from Brevard College. After graduation, she moved to Maryland where she worked at Gieco, Kodak and National Geographic.

San Francisco, California was her home for many years before moving to Asheville, NC in 2015.

Surviving are her son, Jason Atwell of Fletcher, NC and three sisters, Louise Raum of Hendersonville, NC, Pat McCall of Pisgah Forest, NC and Nancy Budzinski and husband Craig of Brevard, NC. She also had many nieces and nephews. Pete Coussas was a dear friend, whom she knew for many years.

Catherine had a great love of God and was very profound in her belief. She loved art and enjoyed the many art museums she visited.

A private family memorial will be held at a later date.
