Cathy Harris

Cathy Jean Hogsed Harris, 65, of Brevard, passed into eternal rest on May 12, 2022 at Mission Hospital in Asheville. A Transylvania County native, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Zelma Hogsed of the Dunn’s Rock Community. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her brother, Donald Hogsed.

Cathy graduated from Dowling College, Long Island, New York in 1986 with a degree in Business Administration. She pursued her career at Stony Brook University of New York as an Assistant Financial Analyst. After leaving New York to return home to Asheville and Brevard, she worked at various accounting businesses.

As a mother, sister, aunt, great-aunt and niece, she loved her family wholeheartedly.

Surviving members of her family include her son, Andrew George Harris of Berlin, Germany and her daughter, Lauren Diane Harris of Asheville; her brother, David Hogsed and Linda, and her sister, Cindy Hogsed Kiser and Bill; and several nieces and nephews and one great-niece and one great-nephew.

Rest in peace, our loved one, until we are united with the family.

The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses of Mission Hospital who cared for Cathy and also Moore-Blanchard Funerals & Cremations for their compassionate care of our family.

A memorial Service will be held at a later date.
