Charles K." Sappo" Millsap, 81, died on February 25, 2011 while residing at Golden Living Assisted Care in Hendersonville, N.C.

Charles was born on September 18, 1929 to Gracie and Ira Millsap in Oneida, TN.
He grew up, attended school, and later met his wife, Jimmy, in Oneida. He and Jimmy raised two children, and the Millsap family lived in Florida and Tennessee before he and Jimmy settled in Brevard N.C. in 2000.

Charles was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Brevard, where he sang in the choir. He had a wonderful voice and sang in Church Choirs and Barbershop quartets through the years. His enjoyment of music was a constant in his life.

Charles served his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1953-1955. He was stationed at Kaneohe Bay in Oahu, Hawaii, where he was a member or the Mayleigh Pistol and Rifle champion for the Marine pistol team. He had a patriotic love for this country and the freedoms that his only brother had fought and died for, while serving in the United States Army during WWII.

He loved the Lord and lived his life with a strong, but gentle spirit. He was always ready with a smile, a kind word or to share a funny story. He had a hearty sense of humor and unfailing belief that here was something good in every person and every situation.
He delighted in his family and was immensely proud of his grandchildren!

Charles is survived by his wife of fifty six years, Jimmy (Bruton) Millsap of their home in Brevard. A son, Michael Millsap and his wife Yamile of Rosman NC., grandson Lucas Millsap of The Citadel, Charleston, SC., granddaughter Victoria Millsap of , of Brevard, NC; a daughter, Tamra Shepherd and her husband Steven, grandson JonWyatt Shepherd all of Elizabethton, Tn, three sisters; Ruth Blakely, Betty Morgan and husband Chester, Barbara Danner and husband Bud, all of Oneida, as well as many nieces and nephews in various states.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Ira and Gracie Millsap, a brother John Millsap, four sisters; Effie Millsap, Reba Loftus, Christine Pryor, and Ira Mae Booher.

A memorial and life celebration service for Charles will be held at New Haven Baptist Church in Oneida, TN. on Saturday March 12, 2011 at 2:00 pm.
