Charles G. Lance

Charles Gordon “Doc” Lance, 72, of Rosman, passed away on Monday, December 16, 2019 at Accordius Healthcare of Brevard. A native of Rosman, and a proud Rosman Tiger, he was the son of the late Frank Gordon and Reba Clayton Lance. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Sandra Patterson Lance, sister Barbara Rigsby and his niece Christy Rigsby.

A member of Zion Baptist Church, Doc had met his soon-to-be-wife, then dated her for an entire week before they were married for 44 years. He worked for Coates America for 38 years and for the Town of Rosman for another 10 years. He also served as an Alderman for the Town of Rosman. A big Rosman Tiger fan, he loved to collect knives, clocks and watches, which he would usually give away to a close friend or family member. He also played softball, pitching for the undefeated Rosman Rebels. He loved to fish in the French Broad River and he loved the song “I’m a Winner Either Way” which he would often sing.

His survivors include his sisters, Ellen Leopard (Gerald) of Brevard, Eloise Mooneyham (Mike) of Seneca, SC and Rosemary Wich (Steve) of Pisgah Forest, NC; and brothers Jimmy Lance (Maxine) of Rosman and Eddie Lance (Hettie) of Brevard; special friend Matthew Pruitt, whom he helped to raise, and special niece Tina Pressley (Tim) as well as a number of nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service and gathering will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, March 14, 2020 at the French Broad River on Turnpike Road across from the Rosman Town Hall with Rev. Mike Pressley and Brother Wally McCall officiating.

The family gives a special thanks for Davita Dialysis in Brevard and also Accordius Healthcare for the special care Doc received.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Meals on Wheels at the Tiger Town Thrift Store.
