Chester C. Kilpatrick, 80, of Pisgah Forest passed away on February 7, 2014. A native of Transylvania County, he was the son of the late John B. and Mildred Edens Kilpatrick. Along with his parents he was also preceded in death by his sister, Dorothy Jean Thomas.
A graduate of Brevard high School and Brevard College, he was a Veteran of the US Navy from before attending Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science. He came back to Brevard and was a partner in Moore-Kilpatrick Funeral Home from 1958 until 1964 until he accepted employment at American Thread Company as Personnel Manager and remained there until retiring in 1997.
Mr. Kilpatrick served his community as a member of the Board of the Chamber of Commerce, a Hospital Trustee, a member of the Transylvania County Personnel Board, Social Services Board as well as others.
He was a member of First Baptist Church of Brevard where he served as a deacon for a number of years and went on several mission trips in the U.S. and the Dominican Republic.
His first and most important position, however, was always that of husband and daddy.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Molly Kilpatrick, and daughters Beth Kilpatrick Aspray and Donna Kilpatrick, both of Pisgah Forest; and grandchildren Claire Aspray and Campbell Aspray.
A Memorial Service for Mr. Kilpatrick will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Sunday, February 9, 2014, at Brevard First Baptist Church with Rev. Tommy Crocker and Rev. Ray Talley officiating. The family will receive friends at 1:30 P.M. until 2:40 P.M, prior to the service.
