Christine Dockens

Christine (Johnson) Dockens, 92, passed away on Saturday August 1, 2020 at home with her family by her side.

Christine was born in South Carolina to the late Alma and William Henson. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by sisters Mildred Sweet and Lucille Silvers, as well brother, Frank Henson.

After moving to Brevard to work at Ecusta, she met John M. Johnson and they wed Easter Sunday, 1947 and proudly raised 3 children. She gained a second family in 1995 when she wed Walter “Pete” Dockens after the passing of her beloved Johnny. She was an avid gardener and loved Braves baseball.  She cherished every single picture that she was given of her family and loved to document her travels throughout the country on organized bus tours.

She is survived by her children Mike Johnson and wife, Vanessa of Pisgah Forest; Judy Glass, and husband, Al of Annapolis, MD; Tim Johnson, and wife, Lynn, of Charlotte; Sisters, Wilma Raxter, Ruth Fanning, and Betty Sherwood. She also leaves behind 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and many very special nieces and nephews.

Graveside services for Christine Dockens will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 7, 2020 at Blue Ridge Gardens of Memory in Pisgah Forest.
