Claire Bridges

Claire Rhodes Bridges, 88, died Tuesday, November 15, 2011 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Millers Creek, NC to the late Smith and Zilla Cole Rhodes. She was also preceded in death by her husband Drury Frank Bridges.

Mrs. Bridges was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Brevard and a member of the United Methodist Women. She was a former president of the Business Professional Women's Organization. She graduated in 1942 from Brevard College.

Claire is survived by her daughter Debby Masengill (Ken) of Brevard; her son, Dru Bridges(Wendy) of Brevard; brothers; James Rhodes(Joyce) of Brevard and Thomas Rhodes(Phyllis) of Millers Creek, NC; sisters, Velma Rhodes Triplett (Jim) of Millers Creek, NC and Ella Mae Nichols (Mailon) of Hickory, NC; grandchildren, Emily Ray(Andrew) of Anderson, SC, Mindy VanDeWater(David) of Anderson, SC, Taylor Bridges of Boone, NC and Benjamin Bridges of Brevard; great grandchildren, Wallace and Sadie Ray and James and Fischer VanDeWater, many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 19, 2011 at 12pm at the First United Methodist Church in Brevard with the Revs. Mike Jordan and Kerry Purselle officiating.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Transylvania County Hospice, PO Box 2440, Brevard, NC 28712.
