Brevard, North Carolina

Claude Albert Edwards, 89, of Brevard, passed away on Thursday, April 14, 2016 at Cedar Mountain House. A native of Toledo, Ohio, he was the only child of the late Claude Albert and Edith Ardley Edwards, Sr. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Jeanne Gambrill Edwards and also his second wife, Elizabeth "Kitty" Johnson Edwards.
He was a graduate of Waite High School and the University of Toledo. He worked at Toledo Scale and as a drafting engineer and salesman for Elwin G. Smith & Co. They divided their time between their residence in Belleair Bluffs and their condo overlooking the Ocean at Sand Key beach where Eddie loved to walk. They were magnificent dancers and performed exhibitions of "swing style".
In earlier days, they were wedding photographers together.
Their two children, Claudia and Scot, were taught to dance standing on their Dad's shoes with plenty of practice time during summers spent at the family cottage on Lake Erie, where boat fishing, sail boating, water skiing, and photography were enjoyed by all.
Photography was one of Claude's passions throughout his life and he was a member of numerous camera and photography clubs often receiving recognition for his work which was shown in local galleries and art shows.
He was a Shriner, a Mason and member of the Belleair Country Club. His last years were spent in the beauty of the Blue Ridge mountains which is where he would have celebrated his 90th Birthday on May 5th.

He was a member of the Silvermont Dance Club and also the Connestee Falls Fishing Club. In 2015, the Connestee Falls Fishing Club established the Eddie and Kitty Edwards Award.

He is survived by his daughter, Claudia Edwards of Sebastopol, CA, and his son, Scot T. Edwards, of Hendersonville, NC.
