Cyril Hannan

LOCAL PHARMACIST

Cyril (Cy) Martin Hannan, 82, of Etowah passed away peacefully at home Tuesday, November 12, 2013.

He was born Dec. 10, 1930 in North Bergen, NJ to the late Cyril and Catherine Hannan. He was preceded in death by an infant son, David Mark Hannan.

He was a member of Etowah United Methodist Church and served as a New Jersey State Trooper. He graduated St. John's College of Pharmacy in 1954. A resident of Etowah for 28 years, he worked in many local pharmacies in Henderson and Transylvania County.

Cy was a loving and devoted, husband, father, Pop-Pop, brother and friend.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Doris, four daughters; Lori McMahon and husband Pete of Littleton, CO, Debbie Ziring and husband Barry of Media, PA, Patti Klecha and husband Tom of Hickory, NC, and Leslie Hyman and husband C.J. of Woodruff, SC, two brothers; Frank Hannan of NJ and Martin Hannan and wife Geri of Vermont and one sister; Vickie Visconti and husband Mickey of N.J., nine grandchildren; Jake, Audrey, Steven, Sarah, Jeremy, Daniel, Corey, Josh, Casey and Cy's beloved dog; Leah.

His greatest joy in life was making people laugh, and he never met anyone he didn't have a joke for. Cy loved woodworking, gardening and landscaping.

A Memorial Service will be held 2:30 PM, Sunday, November 17, 2013 at Etowah United Methodist Church with Reverend Dr. Rick Auten officiating. The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall immediately following the service.
