David Mccoy

David Sheridan McCoy, 71, of Brevard, passed away on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at the Brian Center. A native of Transylvania County, he was the son of the late Joseph Grant and Elsie Brooks McCoy. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by brothers Sylvester and Warren McCoy and his sisters Stella Nicholson, Helen McCoy, Hazel Franks, Katherine Owen and Anna Orr.

He served in the Army Reserves for six years and retired from DuPont after 34 years of service. He enjoyed hunting and his beagles.

Survivors include his son, Billy McCoy (Nicole) of Brevard, daughter Tanya McCoy of Brevard and step-daughter Jennifer McDevitt of Brevard; 7 grandchildren: Chayse Lewis, Tyler Williams, Maleah Hawkins, Mason Galloway, Caleb McDevitt, Waylon McDevitt and Anna McDevitt; and sisters Jesse Talley, Carolyn Eubanks (Bobby).

Memorial Services for David McCoy will be held at 6:00 pm on Thursday, June 7, 2018 in the chapel of Moore-Blanchard Funerals & Cremations with Rev. Kyle Reese officiating. The family will receive friends from 4:30 to 6:00 PM, prior to the service.
