Donald Lee Myles's gentle soul went to his Lord on December 15, 2013. He was a former resident of Riverside, Ill, and lived 19 years in Hendersonville/Etowah, NC.
He was a son of the late Thomas Patrick and Grace Neider Myles. He was preceded in death by three brothers; Bob Myles, Bernard Myles and Ivan Myles and one sister; Joan Rine.
Donald was a veteran of the US Army, serving his country in Korea.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Brevard, NC. He spent his professional life as a decorator of homes, painting them like an artist. He collected trains and created special layouts with them.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years Patricia, three sisters; Betty Forrest (Leo) of New Philadelphia, Ohio, Mildred Myles of Wheeling, WV., and Ellen Lemmon (Bob) of Farmington, MO., two brothers; Tom Myles (Rosella) of Wheeling, WV., Raymond Myles (Lee) of Addison, Ill., also many nieces and nephews that he dearly loved.
His deep faith in the good Lord kept him strong and sustained him during a long health struggle.
Christmas was his special time of year with decorating the home inside and out. God called him home to celebrate this Christmas with the saints and angels. We will miss terribly this special man with a special spirit.
A Memorial Mass will be held 11:00 AM Friday, December 20, 2013 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Leon Wagner and Father Andrew Nowak officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the reception hall.
Military rites will be conducted by the Honor Guard for Veterans of Transylvania County.
