Dr. Donald Ingle Scott, 76, formerly of Little Rock, Arkansas and Langley, Washington, died of complications of Alzheimer's disease on February 28, 2016, in Brevard, North Carolina. He was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on October 9, 1939, and lived in Ada, Oklahoma, graduating from Ada High School in 1957. Don graduated from the University of Oklahoma, where he was an active member of Delta Upsilon Fraternity, Class of 1958. He received his medical degree from the University of Oklahoma in 1964, and, after an internship at St. John's Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma, he began a residency in Pathology for two years at the University of California, San Diego, and two years at the University of Arkansas Medical Center in Little Rock. Dr. Scott was board certified in Surgical and Clinical Pathology as well as Hemato-pathology. Until his retirement in 2004, he was a member and Past-President of Arkansas Pathology Associates based at St. Vincent Infirmary in Little Rock.
From 1966 to 1968 he served as a Captain in the United States Air Force. Don had a life-long love of music and sang in the University of Oklahoma Men's Glee Club, Barbershop Quartet and was a member of the Sun Harbor Chorus in San Diego, California, played the mandolin with Little Rock's Bankers Dozen and was a Past President of the Chamber Music Society of Little Rock. Don was also a devoted runner and completed the New York Marathon in 1989.
Dr. Scott was preceded in death by his parents, Mafalde ingle Scott and Charles Crumrine Scott, of Ada, Oklahoma. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, the Honorable Mary Davies Scott, U.S. Bankruptcy Judge, Ret., a daughter Dr. Sarah Kathleen Scott of Fredrick, Maryland; a son, Joseph Ingle Scott and his wife Jamie Sastre of Asheville, North Carolina; a sister, Carol Scott Alvarez and her husband Manuel of San Diego, California; and multiple Ingle family relatives in Oklahoma and Scott relatives in California.
A private service was held for the family. A celebration of Don's life will be held in Little Rock from 2-4 P.M. on Saturday, April 9, 2016, in the Pavilion Room at Trios, 8201 Cantrell Road. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the Chamber Music Society of Little Rock, 316 East 11th Street, Little Rock, AR, 72202, or to Whidbey Island Center for the Arts, 565 Camino Ave., Langley, WA 98260.
