Dora Garren Owen

Brevard -Dora Garren Owen, 86, died Thursday, October 21, 2010 at The Oaks of Brevard, NC. She was a native of Transylvania County and daughter of the late Robert W. and Mamie Galloway Garren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur T. Owen, Sr. who died in 1997; two sisters, Phoebe and Clara Garren; and a son-in-law, Clarence Goodson. She was a member of Temple Baptist Church in Brevard.

Surviving are her two daughters, Cecelia Goodson of Brevard, and Linda Anders and husband Merle of Lake Toxaway; two sons, Arthur Owen and wife Dorthy of Lake Toxaway and Gary Owen and wife Sue of Knoxville, TN.; one brother; David Garren and wife Lucille of Penrose; nine grandchildren, Scott and Greg Goodson, Stephanie Holton, Tony and Jonathan Owen, Wendy Zopf, Melanie McMillan, Cary Bryan and Andre Hall; 22 great -grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren, four sisters-in-law, Ora Gillespie, Reba Owen, Alma Owenby and Lurlene Owen.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Saturday, October 23, 2010 in Moore Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tommy Owen officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:30-2:45PM prior to the service in the Chapel. Burial will follow at Pisgah Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Transylvania Regional Hospital Foundation for KOALA, P.O. Box 2440, Brevard, NC 28712.
