Doris Edwins

Doris Williams Edwins, 85, of Pisgah Forest, NC, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 22, 2015. A native of Eros, Louisiana, she was the daughter of the late H.P. and Ardella Balderston Williams. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Shuford O. Edwins, Jr., and her brothers and sisters Richard Williams, Otha Sanford, JoAnn Hudson, Kitty Holton and Donald Williams.
Mrs. Edwins served in the U.S. Navy and afterward attended Newberry College before she became a teacher in public schools in Virginia, South Carolina and North Carolina, where she taught for over thirty years. She enjoyed reading and Bible study for all the years after her retirement.
Mrs. Edwins is survived by her daughter, Cindy Cochran and husband John of Pisgah Forest; grandson Lake Edwin Cochran of Pisgah Forest; sister-in-law Miriam Padgett and husband Benny and their children, all of Aiken, SC., and numerous nieces and nephews and cousins.
Funeral Services for Doris Edwins will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at Pisgah Forest Baptist Church with Rev. David Spray, Rev. Alan Thompson and Rev. Michael Bartlett officiating. Interment will follow at Davidson River Cemetery Extension. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m., prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Youth and Children's Ministry fund of Pisgah Forest Baptist Church, 494 Hendersonville Hwy., Pisgah Forest, NC 28768.
