Dorothy Fahlbusch

Dorothy L. Fahlbusch, 102, of Pisgah Forest, NC, passed away March 12, 2021. She was born in Brooklyn, New York on October 15, 1918.  She was a daughter of the late George and Doretta Heyl Preece.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, William Fahlbusch and her sister Norma Preece.

She was a member of Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd. She attended Erasmus Hall High School and Brown’s Business College. She worked at Chase Bank and Bank of New York, both on Wall St., she held secretarial positions with the Army and Navy during WWII; she worked for 13 years with Psychological Services, Massapequa School System.

Her best accomplishment was being instrumental in starting a church with her husband, Bill, (Reformed Church In America) in Massapequa, NY.

Dorothy was past Secretary for the Little River Fire Department, Ladies Auxiliary, Little River Home Extension and served on the hospital desk, wrote the Little River column in the Transylvania Times, taught at the Literacy Council and Schenck Job Corp, and was a member of the Little River Community Club and co-chaired with Margaret Kilstrom to organize programs for the club and she was a member of the Little River Potpourri Club. She loved to swim at least several times a week, tutoring, reading, crocheting, knitting and traveling.

She is survived by her cousin, Terry Allen of Mesa, AZ, and four cousins, Debbie, Glenn, Eddie and Ronnie Hanson.

Graveside services will be held March 19, 2021 at 3:30 PM Little River Baptist Church Cemetery with Pastor Ken Albright officiating.
