Douglas Donald Pattison, 83, passed away on Thursday, January 12. 2023 at his home in Pisgah Forest, North Carolina.
He was born June 11, 1939, in Rochester, NY and was the son of Douglas and Iva Pattison. At age 19 he enlisted in the National Guard and was called up into the Army Signal Core and was stationed in Fort Monmouth. After completing his service, he returned to Rochester and worked for American Telephone and Telegraph as a Communications Technician until his retirement in 1997.
Doug moved to North Carolina after retiring, settling in Transylvania County. He enjoyed golfing, model trains, travel, gardening, and his beloved card games.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Deanna Varley of Pisgah Forest, two sons; Lloyd Douglas (Deborah) and Todd Alan (Sharon), a daughter; Renee Suzanne Abbott, six grandchildren, two brothers; Robert (Lola) and William (Judy), a sister; Linda Swolfs and many beloved nieces and nephews, he was predeceased by his sister; Carol DeHollander.
A celebration of life will be held in Rochester, NY in June.
In lieu of flowers, the family would ask donations to be made to the Transylvania County Rescue Squad, Station 3, P.O. Box 562, Brevard, NC 28712.
