Edwin Corpening, Jr.

Edwin H. Corpening, Jr. 94, went home to be with the Lord, Thursday, April 4, 2013 at Tore's Home. He was the son of the late Edwin H. Corpening, Sr. and Margaret Conner Corpening, and the husband of Christine Hayes Corpening for 69 years, until her death in 2007. He was also preceded in death by two sisters; Ruth Jones and Clarine Varner.

After serving in the US Army during WWII, Ed was employed by the Aluminum Company of America, Power Division, in Graham County for 44 years.

Surviving are his two daughters; Barbara Rowland of Raleigh, NC and Jerri Hogsed and husband David of Pisgah Forest, NC, a sister; Margaret Gravely of Brevard, NC, six grandchildren, Steve Rowland and wife Pam, Eddie Rowland, Gil Rowland, Dave Hogsed and wife Pam, Lynn Austin and husband Doug, Karen Rose and husband Walt; 16 great-grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, April 8, 2013 at Pisgah Forest Baptist Church where he was a member. Dr. David Spray and Rev Ray Talley will officiate. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
