Elizabeth Johnson

Elizabeth “Lib” Sprouse Johnson, 95, of Etowah, passed away on Saturday, October 17, 2020. Born in Ruth, North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late James E. and Edna Goforth Sprouse. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, William Johnson; and her brothers: J.C. Sprouse, Junior Sprouse, Bill Sprouse and Bobby Sprouse.

A lifetime member of Turkey Creek Baptist Church, she had a kind and gentle spirit. She worked as a merchandiser for K-Mart until she was 86 years old. She enjoyed watching golf and her favorite football team, the Carolina Panthers. She also loved to read and to shop, but her great loves were her family; her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren.

Her loving survivors include her daughter, Margaret Tate (Steve) of Etowah, NC; grandchildren: Courtney (Sarah) Tate, Brad Tate, and Kasey (Heather) Tate; great-grandchildren: Jamie Tate, Ella Tate, Harper Tate, Dallas Tate, Jacob Tate, Hailey Tate and Noah Tate; brothers Onald Sprouse of Winston-Salem and Donald Sprouse of Brevard.

Private graveside services for Elizabeth Johnson will be held at Blue Ridge Gardens of Memory in Pisgah Forest, NC.

The family would like to thank the wonderful hospice nurses, Keitha, Tennille, and Sharon who took such good care of Lib.  Also, a special thank you goes to Beth, the home health care nurse who was such a blessing.
