Grady Elzie “Dick” Ray, 86, of Brevard, passed away on Tuesday, September 3, 2019. A native of Brevard, he was the son of the late Elzie heath and the late Rachael Ray. In addition to his parents, he was was also preceded in death by his wife, Jearleen Clayton Ray; son Wade Ray, sisters Dorothy Flynn and Carolyn Jones and his brothers Clyde Moore, James Crowe and David Crowe and John Heath.
A United States Navy Veteran, he served his country during the Korean Conflict. After his military service he worked and lived in Charlotte for forty years in the well-drilling industry.
His survivors include his daughters, Brenda Ray of Charlotte and Becky Hartsell, also of Charlotte; sisters Betty Barton of Brevard, Becky Owen of Brevard, Mary Ball of the See-Off Community and his brother Bud Heath of Brevard; cousin, but more like a sister, Roberta Dodson of Brevard; niece Lucy Littleton of Hendersonville and cousin Glenda Conner of Brevard.
The family will celebrate Dick’s life at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 7, 2019 at Sycamore Flats in Pisgah National Forest.
