Emmett K. "Colonel" Taylor, Jr.
Pisgah Forest - Emmett K. "Colonel" Taylor, Jr., 77, died on February 5, 2011 at Transylvania Regional Hospital.

He was born on April 6, 1933 to the late Emmet K. and Lillian Dunn Taylor.

Mr. Taylor devoted many hours to the Habitat for Humanity of Transylvania County and he assisted in starting the Optimist Club of Brevard. A graduate of Auburn University, he was active in the ROTC. After graduation, he enlisted in the US Army and retired as a Lt. Colonel after 22 years of service.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Winifred Buckner Taylor; one brother, David Taylor and wife Joan of Norfolk, VA; sisters; Elizabeth Akins of Signal Mountain, TN, Mary Berta Brown and husband Howard of Arnold, MD, Sarah B. O'Connor and husband David of Annondale, VA; a brother in law, Buddy Buckner of Pisgah Forest, NC; several nieces and nephews, and many special friends.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
