Era Ledford Byers

Pisgah Forest - Era Ledford Byers, 78, died Thursday, Sept. 10, 2009 at Transylvania Regional Hospital.
A native of Clay County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Lish W. and Paralee Phillips Ledford. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Carroll Byers, an infant granddaughter Heidi Rebecca Stricker, her brother, Robert Ledford, and her sisters, Louella Nicholson and Ruth Stanley.
Mrs. Byers had been employed by Transylvania Vocational Services as an instructor to individuals with barriers to employment. She was a member of Glady Branch Baptist Church.
Surviving are her daughter, Nancy Stricker and husband Richard of Brevard; son, Don Byers and wife Kendra of Pisgah Forest; sisters, Moniree Ledford of Clayton, GA and Bonnie Gribble and husband Aldon of Hiawassee, GA; grandchildren, Sheridan and Caroline Byers of Pisgah Forest, and Maggie Wentzky and husband Chad of Greenville, SC; many nieces and nephews and two very special friends, Vera Harris and Sandy Beddingfield.
The memorial service will be held at 11 am Saturday, September 12, 2009 at Glady Branch Baptist Church with the Rev. Danny Byers officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall.
