Ethel Rahn

Ethel Townsend Rahn, 78, of Brevard, passed away on Tuesday, June 2, 2015. A native of Transylvania County, she was the daughter of the late William Howard and Mildred Lillian Barton Townsend. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 57 years, Harold Rahn, brother Jimmy Townsend and sister Jean Townsend.
Ethel was an avid gardener and loved to share her beautiful gardens with all who drove by her home. She was a loving and devoted mother to her children Preston Rahn and wife Susan of Greenville, SC, Joyce Johnston and husband Adam of Stewart, Florida, James Rahn and wife Teri of Brevard, and Rene' Gray and husband Charles of Pisgah Forest. Grandchildren include Trey Rahn and wife Yadi, Preston Rahn and wife Jessica, Leah Rahn Ross and husband Doug, Heath Rackley and wife Kelley, Jentsen Rackley and wife Margie, Matthew Johnston, Tyler Johnston, Aaron Rahn and wife Molly, Ashley Rahn, Charlie Gray and wife Eriel, Katie Bland and husband Aaron. Great-grandchildren Evie Rackley, Colton Rackley, Jake Rackley, Grace Rackley, Savannah Rackley, Nate Rahn, Eli Ross, Zeke Ross, Kahlan Rahn and Aliceyn Rahn; her brother Howard Townsend of Waynesville, NC and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, June 6, 2015, at First United Methodist Church in Brevard with Rev. Paul Smith and Rev. Lee Eakes officiating. Interment will follow at Blue Ridge Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM on Friday, June 5, 2015 at Moore Funeral Home in Brevard.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Shriners Hospital, 950 W. Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29605.
