Evelyn Joyce Shipman Shelton, 80, of Etowah passed away on Monday, November 8th at The Elizabeth House in Hendersonville. Born on June 11, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Fleet and Nellie Parker Prince Shipman. Joyce was also preceded in death by her brothers Kenneth and Marvin Shipman, Neal Prince and wife Maude, Gertha Shipman and wife Mildred, Luther Shipman and wife Julia, Glen Shipman and wife Ethel and Johnny Shipman and sister Catherine and husband Clifford. She is survived by her son James "Jimmy" Shelton and wife Cindy, daughter Sherry Shelton, grandchildren Kimberly Corona, Bobby Shelton and David Shelton, great grandchildren Adrian, Gloria and Carmen, a brother Charles Shipman and wife Shirley, sisters Louise Shelton and husband Johnny and Hazel Deese., sisters in law Lucille Shipman and Bessie Shipman, "adopted daughter" Judy Gash and husband James and numerous nieces and nephews and their families.

A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, November the 14th at the Carrs Hill Baptist Church on the Greenville Hwy with visitation one hour prior to the service. The service will be conducted by her nephew, the Rev. Charles Shelton, assisted by great nephews the Revs. Gerald and Earl Gillespie and the Rev. Shane Hardesty. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Elizabeth House, 581 S. Allen Rd., Flat Rock, NC 28731.
