Farrell Lewis Moore, 82, died Friday, September 12, 2014, at the Oaks of Brevard. Born in Brevard December 20, 1931, Farrell was the son of the late Lewis and Bessie Adeline Allison Moore. He grew up in the home of his maternal grandparents, Madison Hugh Lee and Florida Lenora Shipman Allison, and continued living with his aunt and uncle Hubert and Dorothy Lenora Allison Batson. They; his paternal grandparents Volney Clinton and Eunice Whitmire Moore; other aunts and uncles; sisters Euna Leigh Cantrell, Lois Irene Roberson, and Frankie Nell Wagoner; nephew David Leigh Cantrell; and seventeen first cousins all preceded Farrell in death.
Farrell, himself a friend to many, had a host of supportive friends, including the extended Batson family, his caring church family and fellow residents and compassionate caregivers at Kingsbridge House and The Oaks of Brevard.
A member of Cherryfield Baptist Church, he was active as long as health allowed. He was formerly a member of Carr's Hill Baptist Church. A 1952 graduate of Brevard High School, he enjoyed school reunions as well as Moore, Allison, and Shipman reunions and church homecomings.
He worked for B&B and Farmer's Federation, then Merrill Masonry and TVS in the DuPont film warehouse.
Surviving are nephew Jamie Cantrell; nieces Martha Cremer, Judy Bess Burleson, and Gayle Hatchcock; also great and great-great nieces and nephews; and first cousins Grace Hall, Blanche Bakke, Freddie Ruth Leistner, James Madison Allison, Nancy LeNora Elkins, and Jean Young.
Funeral Services for Farrell Moore will be at Cherryfield Baptist Church on Tuesday, September 16, at 3:00 P.M. with Rev. Tommy Preslar and Rev. Tommy Owen officiating. Interment will follow in Blue Ridge Gardens of Memory in Pisgah Forest.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Cherryfield Baptist Church, 2070 Whitmire Road, Brevard NC 28712.
