Francis "Rass" Allison

Brevard -Francis "Rass" Allison, 93, passed away on July 31, 2012 in Brevard, NC.

Rass, was born on September 27, 1918 and raised in Brevard and spent most of his life in North Carolina, in Brevard and in his later years spending time in Southport.  The last several months of his life, Rass was under the compassionate care of the staff of Tore's Home.

He served his country in the United States Marine Corps during World War II, specifically participating in action against the enemy at Okinawa and in the Pacific Theater.  Rass and his wife Pauline operated a cattle farm on the French Broad River as well as several other businesses in Brevard.

Rass was preceded in death by his parents,   Alfred and Jessie Allison, his wife Pauline Mull Allison, and his son, Charles Allison.  He was also preceded in death by all of his siblings, brothers; James, Perry and Eli Allison and his sisters; Virginia Raymer and Helen Gibbs.

He is survived by his son, Gary Allison and wife Pat, and his daughter, June McCall and husband Plato, all of Brevard and his daughter-in-law Phyllis Allison of San Diego and five grandchildren, Eli Allison, Emilee Ennis, Brittnee McCall, Zachary McCall, all of Brevard,  and Kimberly Allison, of San Diego, California.  Rass  is also survived by six great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held at 3:00 PM on August 2, 2012 at Gillespie-Evergreen Cemetery with Rev. Steve Jones and Rev. Brenda Jones officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mt. Moriah Calvert Baptist Church, 890 Calvert Rd., Brevard, NC or the American Diabetes Association, 222 South Church Street, Suite 336M, Charlotte, NC  28202.
