Gage Guffey

Gage Guffey, 9, of Brevard, gained his angel wings on Wednesday morning, December 2, 2015. He is the son of Zane Guffey of Brevard, NC and Samantha Beeker of Brevard, NC.

He was diagnosed with DIPG, January 7, 2015 and he led a hard, strong, and brave battle for 11 months.

Gage was a member of Cathey's Creek Baptist Church and he attended Pisgah Forest Elementary School where he was in the 3rd grade.

Gage loved monster trucks and any kind of racing (especially the wrecks), video games, four wheeling, and spending time outside, including working in Nanny's garden.

In addition to his father and mother, he is survived by one brother; Elijah "Eli" Guffey, of the home, two sisters; Miley Guffey of Hendersonville and Sophia Guffey of the home. He is also survived by his paternal grandmother; Karen "Sissy" McCall and husband Tim of Brevard, Paternal grandfathers; Ben Guffey and Richard Galloway both of Rosman, Paternal great grandparents; Patricia and Morris Kitchen of Brevard, Aunt Dakota "CoCo" Guffey of Brevard, Aunt Makina Smith and husband Jesse of Brevard, Great Aunt Carmen Headen and husband Mark of Yadkinville, NC, Great Aunt Lynn White and husband Strauter of Brevard, Uncle Bucky Owen and wife Bree of Brevard, Uncle Robert Chabot of Brevard, Best friend and cousin, Chanse Owen of Brevard and many more cousins who will miss him.

The family would like to thank Transylvania Hospice, and their special nurses for their love and care, Dr. Krystal Bottom with Mission Hospital Cancer Center of Asheville, Dr. Lana Riemann, St. Jude's and Ronald McDonald House. The faithful friend's Gage had all over the world were very special to him during his illness.

The Funeral Service for Gage Guffey will be at 2 P.M. Saturday, December 5, 2015, at Cathey's Creek Baptist Church in Brevard with Rev. Tony Lambert and Rev. Alan Aiken officiating. Interment will follow at Blue Ridge Gardens of Memory in Pisgah Forest. The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM until 2 P.M. prior to the service.
