Geneva Holcombe

Geneva Powell Holcombe, 87, of Rosman, passed away on Wednesday, March 23, 2016. A native and lifelong resident of Rosman, she was a daughter of the late Marion Cornelius Powell and Callie Emilee Aiken Powell. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband Robert Hinton Holcombe who passed away in 2000, three infant daughters and one brother; Robert Powell.

Geneva graduated from Rosman High School in 1947. She was a member of Old Toxaway Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for more than 30 years.

Her passion in life was spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed cooking and was an avid quilter and seamstress. She gave away the quilts she made with love, to family and friends.

Her survivors include her daughter: Loretta Holcombe Sanders and her husband James of Rosman, NC, two grandchildren: Thad Sanders and his wife Nancy of Rosman, NC, Nicole Sanders Owenby and her husband Chad of Brevard, NC, two great grandchildren: Hannah and Heath Sanders, one sister: Montaree Powell of Rosman, NC and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Geneva Holcombe will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, March 26, 2016 at Old Toxaway Baptist Church with Rev. Shaun Dodson and Rev. Billy Bruner officiating. Burial will follow at Middlefork Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service from 1:00 - 2:00 PM.
