George Carl

Dr. George Edmund Carl, 85, of Brevard, passed away on Sunday, July 10, 2022. A native of Los Angeles, California, he was the son of the late Milton and Rosita Green Carl.

Known as Edmund to his family, he was George to his friends and colleagues. After completing his studies in the U.S., Dr. Carl completed his studies at Oxford University in England and proceeded to teach at the University in Bristol for twenty years, where he garnered the reputation both as an outstanding teacher as well as a mentor for his former students.

As a professor of history, he developed a penchant for storytelling, that became his knack in life.  His stories were never short, but vivid and full of rich detail. As he continued to study around the world, his stories became all the more entertaining and enchanting. Though he had no children of his own, he loved to listen to others, and would often tell them his amazing stories.

A memorial service honoring Dr. George Edmund Carl will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, July 14, 2022 in the chapel of Moore-Blanchard Funerals & Cremations.
