George Johnson, Jr.

George Earle Johnson, Jr., 98, of Brevard, passed away on Saturday 2/11/2023.

He was born in Westbrook Maine; he was the son of George Earle Johnson Sr and Helen Prophet Johnson.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marguerite Anderson Johnson and his son Robert E. Johnson.

He is survived by his daughter, Barbara J. Orr of Brevard NC with grandson Jerry D. Orr II, grandson Jordan W. Orr (wife Shannon), granddaughter Sarah O Mancusi (husband Vincent); daughter Deborah J. Whitener (husband Brent) of Irmo SC with grandson Matthew B. Whitener (wife Casey) and grandson Ryan G. Whitener (wife Natalie); and son David G. Johnson (wife Susan) of Waxhaw NC with grandson Corey L. Johnson (wife Amy), grandson Mitchel R. Johnson (wife Haley) and grandson Trent F. Johnson (wife Ally).  He had a total of 12 great grandchildren.

Earle attended Worcester Polytechnic Institute and graduated with a mechanical engineer degree.  He was a proud Marine veteran serving in Japan during World War II.  He moved to Brevard in 1957 and worked 35+ years with E.I Dupont.

The family will have a private military service in March.  Memorials may be made to Four Seasons Foundation, www.fourseasonscfl.org.
