George Edward LeVasser

George E. LeVasser, the esteemed CEO of Tropic Oil Company, passed away on April 21, 2023 surrounded by family.

George was born September 21, 1943, in Salem, Massachusetts to parents George Albert and Therese LeVasser. He had a strong work ethic and determination, which he channeled into building a successful career in the oil industry. He was known for his sharp mind, his unwavering integrity, and his commitment to excellence. His colleagues and clients respected him greatly, and he made a lasting impact on the industry.

In his free time, George enjoyed reading, fishing, and spending time with his family. He was a man of great wisdom and humor, and he had a way of making everyone around him feel special, whether they were a military veteran or his poker dealer.

George was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who cherished his family above all else. His loyalty, generosity, and leadership will never be forgotten. He is preceded in death by his father, George Albert LeVasser. He is survived by: his wife Connie, son George Jr., daughter Elizabeth Thompson, sister Ellen Thompson, brother Phillip LeVasser, mother Theresa LeVasser, and grandchildren Alex Thompson and Ashley Parratore.

He leaves behind a legacy of service and compassion that will continue to inspire those who knew him for years to come.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the wonderful help and care provided by South Miami Hospital. The viewing will be at Greg L. Mason Funeral Home on May 19, 2023 from 4-7pm. A memorial service will be held at St. Martha Church on May 20, 2023, at 1pm, where friends and family will gather to celebrate George’s life and legacy. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation in George’s memory. Interment will be at 1:30 PM on Thursday, May 25, 2023 at St. Jude’s Catholic Church Cemetery in Sapphire Valley, North Carolina.
