George Neal

George Vernace Neal, Jr. 78, of Brevard, NC passed away, Friday, July 30, 2021 after a brief battle with cancer. He was born in Montgomery, Ohio on December 7, 1942 to the late George and Catherine Neal. George is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years, Mary Lou Neal and two sons from a previous marriage: George Neal III, and Gregory Neal.

George and Mary Lou retired to Connestee Falls in 2002 after careers where they lived in Michigan, Kansas, California, Louisiana, and Florida. George enjoyed retired life and was active in the community. George and Mary Lou had season tickets to the Flat Rock Theatre and enjoyed travel and cruises. George was a long-time member of the Connestee Falls Chorale where he most recently served as President. In addition to singing, he frequently played in the Chorale skits. George was also an active member of the Connestee Amateur Theatre Society (C.A.T.S.) and an enthusiastic participant of the “Big Olive” – a men’s discussion group. He loved reading and discussing politics. George was an avid gourmet cook and dinner party host. He was always upbeat and enthusiastic. George will be greatly missed.

No services are planned at this time. George will be buried in a private ceremony at St. Philip’s Episcopal Cemetery.
